GSUSA CSW Delegation | Girl Scouts of Southeastern Michigan

The 71st session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) will be held March 6–13, 2027, in New York, NY.

GSSEM is seeking applications from Senior and Ambassador Girl Scouts interested in serving as delegates representing GSUSA during the first week of the CSW71 session.

As delegates, Girl Scouts learn about and engage in GSUSA's international advocacy, consider worldwide issues, discover how global entities function, and let their voices be heard on key issues impacting girls and young women.

Other than a one-time fee of $165, travel, lodging, and food will be covered for each delegate. A GSSEM staff member will chaperone delegates.

Applications must be submitted by Monday, November 16, at 11:59 PM EST.

About the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) toggle arrow

Each year, GSUSA joins over 5,000 women and girls from around the world at the United Nations headquarters in New York to participate in the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW).

The CSW is a functional commission of the UN, dedicated exclusively to gender equality and the advancement of women. Every year, national representatives of Member States gather for a two-week session to evaluate progress on gender equality, identify challenges, set global standards, and formulate concrete policies to promote gender equality and the advancement of women worldwide.

As NGO Consultative members, Girl Scouts of the USA and the World Association of Girl Guides/Girl Scouts participate in bringing the voice of girls and young women to the global stage.

Girl Scouts of Southeastern Michigan (GSSEM) is seeking applications from girls interested in serving as CSW delegates during the first week of the session. Delegates will participate in GSUSA's global advocacy, learn about global issues and how global organizations function, and raise their voices on global issues impacting girls and young women.

Applicants should meet the following criteria:

Be registered as a Senior or Ambassador Girl Scout for the 2026–27 membership year.
Attend CSW71 March 6–13, 2027.
Participate in program preparation December 2026–March 2027.
- Monthly online webinars that increase to bi-weekly as the session approaches.
- Complete any homework or preparation activities.
- Participate in optional opportunities for Girl Scout volunteers that may require additional meetings leading up to CSW, outside of GSUSA's webinars.
Complete an Amplification Project by July 2027.
- Girls develop a project that reaches at least 100 people and shares information or skills learned during their CSW experience. GSUSA/GSSEM will provide guidance, including a detailed toolkit and consultation.
Strong interest in advocacy, global issues, and international relations.
Available for an in-person interview at the Detroit Service Center on the evening of either November 20 or November 23.
Pay a one-time fee of $165.

Note: Girl Scouts who participated in the GSUSA Global Citizen Summit are not eligible to attend CSW71.
