All GSSEM volunteers deserve to shine.

Every year, we recognize volunteers and organizations that have shown outstanding service to our council and our girl/adult members.

Adult volunteers and community/business partners who have contributed to or collaborated with GSSEM are eligible for formal and informal recognition. If you know a volunteer who's been invaluable, dedicated, and inspirational, this is a fantastic way to thank them.

Volunteers are at the core of Girl Scouting, so it's essential to acknowledge and celebrate their dedication to the Girl Scout Mission.

Nomination Process

Review the Recognition Information Packet to determine the ideal award for your nominee.
Confirm your nominee meets all of the award requirements.
Note: Your submission will be returned for edits if it doesn't describe how the nominee has met the award criteria.
Submit the Recognition Nomination Form by December 11, 2026.
- Ensure your submission explains how the nominee meets all award criteria.
- Thanks Badge I and II nominations only: Upload one endorsement letter.
- Ensure the information is correct before submitting the form. If necessary, please confirm the details with your nominee.
Our Volunteer Experience team will reach out to you in February 2027 if your nominee has been approved for the award.

Community Partner Recognition toggle arrow

GSSEM recognizes outstanding community and business partners who support Girl Scouting within our council.

Eligible Community/Business Partners Have:

Actively recognized, understood, and practiced the value of inclusive behavior.
Worked with GSSEM to provide at least one event related to the Girl Scout Leadership Experience (GSLE) within the past membership year.
Actively supported Girl Scouting with funds, resources, community connections, and/or in-kind donations.

Nominee Examples:

A local museum that hosted badge programs for Brownies
A community college that worked with GSSEM to provide space for a badge-earning event

Nominations are due by Friday, December 11, 2026, at 11:59 PM EST.

Girl Scout Adult Religious Honors toggle arrow

Faith-based recognitions for Girl Scout volunteers are available for many faith traditions.

Girl Scout volunteers who work with religious programs created by national religious organizations to promote spiritual growth may be nominated for religious recognition.

Everyone likes to be recognized for a job well done—and GSSEM has a great informal way to do that.

Each month, we publish a Volunteer Spotlight post on our GirlTalk blog that features an individual volunteer who's gone above and beyond to give their girls a remarkable Girl Scout experience. We also highlight the blog post in Leaders Newsletter.

If you know a volunteer who's been invaluable, dedicated, and inspirational to their troop, service unit, and more, please consider nominating them for a Volunteer Spotlight blog post.
