Join us at our annual Tough Enough Breakfast on Thursday, September 10, 2026, at Elevate at One Campus Martius in Detroit.

GSSEM's Tough Enough Breakfast is our annual signature leadership event, bringing together business and community leaders who are committed to influencing positive change. This special event honors individuals whose leadership, youth advocacy, and dedication to our region exemplify what it means to be "tough enough to be a Girl Scout."

The awards program will conclude by 9:15 AM, but we welcome guests to mingle, network, and take photos on the balcony until 10:00 AM.

Monica Woodson
CEO, Girl Scouts of Southeastern Michigan

Monica Woodson has served as the Chief Executive Officer of GSSEM since 2020. Her career has focused on non-profit programming and leadership in organizations across the human services spectrum. This has enabled her to engage in service to immigrants, low-income families, deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals, and youth. Ms. Woodson maintains her commitment to serving the community as a volunteer for the National Conference of Artists - Michigan Chapter and serving on the board of Southwest Solutions Counseling, the Advisory Board of the Citizens Research Council of Michigan, and the Changing Children's Worlds Foundation of Illinois.

Stacy Fox
Co-Founder & Principal of the Roxbury Group

Stacy Fox is a founder and principal of the Roxbury Group, where she has helped advance major efforts to revitalize downtown Detroit. Beyond Roxbury’s development work, Stacy was appointed by Governor Rick Snyder in 2013 to serve as Deputy Emergency Manager of the City of Detroit, playing a key role in guiding the city through the largest municipal bankruptcy in U.S. history. She served for more than ten years on the executive committee of the Downtown Detroit Partnership and was the founding chair of its Stakeholders Committee.

Stacy is also the founder and donor advisor of the Detroit of Tomorrow Fund, formerly the Collins & Aikman Foundation, a 501(c)(3) foundation dedicated to initiatives that benefit Detroit, its residents, and visitors. She also served as the initial chair of the Michigan Fast Track Land Bank Authority. Recognized by Crain’s as one of Michigan’s 100 Most Influential Women, Stacy brings 30 years of experience as a corporate and restructuring attorney and executive advisor to CEOs and boards.

She has served as general counsel for DowDuPont and held top legal roles at three other Fortune 100 companies. She earned both her J.D. and B.S. from the University of Michigan.

Tiffany Gunter
CEO & General Manager of the Suburban Mobility Authority for Regional Transportation (SMART)

Tiffany J. Gunter is the CEO and General Manager of the Suburban Mobility Authority for Regional Transportation (SMART), where she leads the agency’s overall strategy, operations, and service delivery across Southeast Michigan. Since joining SMART in 2022 as Deputy General Manager, Tiffany has played a central role in advancing service improvements, organizational modernization, and community partnerships. Now as General Manager, she continues to focus on delivering safe, equitable, and reliable transit that meets the needs of riders and strengthens the region’s mobility network.

Tiffany has long been passionate about public transit, previously holding leadership roles at the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments and the Regional Transit Authority of Southeast Michigan.

Tiffany holds a Master of Public Administration and a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Michigan, as well as executive leadership certifications from Harvard University and the University of Notre Dame. Tiffany has experience in higher education, automotive, and retail sectors, having worked at Wayne County Community College District, Chrysler, and Kmart Headquarters.

Tiffany is a dedicated community leader, serving on the boards of MPACT, the Great Lakes Leadership Academy, and the Detroit Area Agency on Aging. She’s also a proud Detroiter and mother who enjoys gardening, biking, traveling, and reading.

Mary Kramer
Co-Founder, Detroit Homecoming & Retired Publisher/Editor of Crain’s Detroit Business

Mary Kramer's career in journalism and publishing spanned four decades, including more than 30 years leading the team at Crain's Detroit Business and three other Crain Communications Inc. titles. In 2021, she moved into new product development and successfully launched Crain Currency, a digital newsletter and website aimed at high-net-worth individuals and families managing wealth and legacies. She retired from Crain in 2023 but serves as a consultant to Detroit Homecoming, a Crain-supported initiative she founded in 2014 that has been bringing successful Detroit-area "expats" back to their hometown annually to re-engage with its revitalization. More than $1 billion in economic impact has been linked to Homecoming-related connections or experiences.

She has three key nonprofit board roles: vice chair of Detroit Opera, Cabaret 313 Inc., and development chair for Michigan's annual District competitions in the Metropolitan Opera's Laffont Competition. Previously, she chaired the board at the Skillman Foundation and Grand Valley State University. In 2003, she was the first woman elected to be president of the historic Detroit Athletic Club. In 2022, she was inducted into the Michigan Women's Hall of Fame. She was also inducted into the Michigan Journalism Hall of Fame in 2017.

Kate Levin Markel
President of the McGregor Fund

Kate Levin Markel is President of the McGregor Fund, where she has helped guide one of Detroit’s longstanding philanthropic institutions with a focus on community voice, accountability, and equity. A Detroit native, Kate joined the Fund in 2001 as a program officer, became program director in 2010, and was named president in 2015. Her leadership is grounded in decades of experience across public service, philanthropy, and the private sector.

Before McGregor, she worked in the private sector in New York, served on the staff of Detroit Mayor Dennis W. Archer, managed Detroit’s $100 million Empowerment Plan, and consulted with southeast Michigan foundations and community development initiatives.

At McGregor, she has supported grantmaking and partnerships that address basic needs and housing, recovery and restoration, and skill building and employment, while emphasizing trust, transparency, racial and economic justice, and relationships with nonprofit partners. A graduate of the University of California, Berkeley, Kate continues to serve broader civic and philanthropic spaces.
