General Information
Each overnight summer camp runs for five days, Sunday–Friday. Girls will receive their earned badge or Journey award at camp.

June 18–23, 2023

Camp, Camp, Camp

Camp Fury

Seniors, Ambassadors
Train alongside female firefighters and law enforcement personnel to learn firefighting, police and EMS skills, practice defensive tactics, achieve physical activities and develop investigative abilities.

Girls will be mentored by remarkable women in the field! Not only will campers learn valuable skills during Camp Fury, but they will still get time to be a camper and partake in traditional camp activities!

Beyond the Stars

Space Jam

Brownies
Welcome to the Space Jam! Learn about the moon, use a telescope to stargaze, and play alien basketball in this themed opportunity to earn your Space Science Adventurer badge.

Star Travelers

Juniors
Travel to the stars and earn your Space Science Investigator badge by using a telescope to stargaze, modeling the solar system, and sleeping under the stars in a hammock.

Moonlight Madness

Cadettes
Bask in the moonlight while working toward your Space Science Researcher badge! Learn about light and color, how to identify constellations, and sleep under the stars in a hammock.

Out of This World

Seniors, Ambassadors
Design and perform an out-of-this-world skit for the younger girls to teach them about the wonders of space! You'll also contribute to citizen science projects, stargaze using a telescope, and sleep under the stars in a hammock.

Have a mermaid tail of a time! You'll complete your Wonders of Water Journey by taking action to protect water at camp and beyond.

Juniors
Become a citizen scientist and collect important data about bodies of water at camp. You'll also get a snapshot of various careers that focus on water quality.

Cadettes
Take action to protect the water all around us and collect health data to complete your Journey like a citizen scientist.

Make a Splash

Splash around in the water! You'll also attend a field trip to earn the Paddling badge and explore your relationship with water through art.

As a Senior, you'll assit with the all-camp investigation by evaluating witnesses and the media surrounding the case. You'll will write about the case and deliver the news to camp. As an Ambassador, you'll learn the ultimate secret of Camp Hawthorn Hollow.

Move to the Music

Learn about different kinds of dance genres, find your rhythm through music, and even choreograph your own dance. At then end of the week, you'll perform in front of the entire camp and your family.

Juniors
Take center stage for our Junior campers! Explore different roles through acting and dancing and help plan a Take Action project. At then end of the week, you'll perform in front of the entire camp and your family.

Mosaic Performing Arts

You'll have a special opportunity to work with the Mosaic Youth Theatre of Detroit.

Juniors
Earn your Outdoor Art Explorer badge and display their work for an all-camp art show.

Cadettes
Earn your Outdoor Art Apprentice badge while mixing two of our favorite activities: painting and archery! You'll also display your work for an all-camp art show.

ART-rageous

Seniors, Ambassadors
Earn your Outdoor Art Master and Expert badges by creating ARTrageous works for younger Girl Scouts to view during an art show hike on the trails.

Mini Camp Descriptions

About Mini Camps
Campers in grades 2–5 are able to experience independence and enjoy the benefits of overnight camp without staying the entire length of a six-day, five-night summer camp.

General Schedule
Each overnight mini camp runs for three days and two nights.

Girls will receive their earned badge at camp.

Troop Camping at Camp Hawthorn Hollow

Lodges
CHH has eight lodges—each with a full kitchen, comfortable lounge area, tables and chairs, bathrooms with flush toilets, a shower house within walking distance, outdoor fire pits, and picnic tables.

Lodge Capacity

  • Lodge: 32 Campers

Villages
CHH has four villages (Fair Winds, Metro, Otsikita, Waterways) comprised of five rustic cabins—each with a refrigerator, a charcoal grill, flush toilets, a sink, and electrical outlets. Each cabin sleeps four people on cots, and two villages share a screened-in, multipurpose building, which can be divided into two rooms with a curtain.
