Grab your Citizen Scientist "Thinking Hat" and head on down
to the wetlands at Crosswinds Marsh to learn all about the fascinating
critters that call the marsh home! Participants will role up their
sleeves and collect real data to improve the marsh!
Explore different wetland types and help with citizen science with
some hands-on exploration! First, we will be pond dipping in the marsh
to find out what types of critters call Crosswinds home. Second, we
will hike over the boardwalks and through the forest identifying
different plants, animals, and habitats as we go. Finally, you will
learn about vernal pools; how to identify them and why they're
important. Collect citizen scientist data for us to submit to an
ongoing survey of Crosswinds.
NOTE: We will be
walking up to one mile over dirt/gravel, grass, and boardwalk.
Depending on the weather the ground may be slippery, please dress
accordingly. The marsh can be up to 10 degrees cooler than the
surrounding areas, so please be sure to bring extra layers.
