Ribbit! Come join your Outdoor Education Team and the Naturalist
Staff at Stony Creek Metropark to explore the fascinating world of
vernal pools! Get the chance to see fairy shrimp, tadpoles,
salamanders and much more!
Participants will take a deep
dive into the exciting life histories of native frog, salamander, and
invertebrate species that call vernal pools home! Vernal pools are
unique, ecologically rich temporary seasonal bodies of water that
provide critical habitat to several indicator species found in
Michigan! We will start with some hands-on learning inside the Nature
Center and then head outside for a nature hike to an actual vernal
pool to see this environmental phenomenon in action!
