GSSEM Creative Compass Patch Program: Join local, renowned artists Amanda Koss and Dione Trip to craft your very own upcycled book and learn about reflective writing, in this first of its kind patch program focused on self expression and creativity!

The GSSEM Creative Compass Patch Program, under the creation and expertise of local artist Amanda Koss, is designed to be a transformative program to inspire Girl Scouts to reach their highest potential by recognizing and unlocking their inherent creative abilities! By connecting Girl Scouts with working artists, artisans, and innovative opportunities - the program fosters curiosity, self-expression, and personal growth. In a supportive and empowering environment, Girl Scouts will explore unconventional ways to impact their communities while discovering their own unique creative paths.

Created by artist and curator Amanda Koss, this program reflects her commitment to empowering youth, nurturing creativity, and providing access to the tools and opportunities needed to achieve their dreams.

Patch Session #1: Upcycled Book Making and Reflective Writing

During this event, Girl Scouts will explore the art of sustainable bookmaking using found and repurposed materials, guided by renowned sculpture artist Dione Tripp. Based in Jackson, Michigan, Dione has traveled the globe, creating art and engaging with diverse communities and children. This hands-on activity highlights the importance of sustainability and creativity, teaching Girl Scouts how to turn everyday items into meaningful works of art.

If time permits, the session will include a calming meditation and reflective writing activity, offering a unique opportunity for self-expression. Each Girl Scout will leave with a handmade book they can use for journaling, reflective writing, or drawing, continuing their creative journey at home.
