GSSEM Creative Compass Patch Program: Join artists Amanda Koss and Kelz to create miniature mosaics using a variety of supplies and your own creative designs!
The GSSEM Creative Compass Patch Program, under the creation and expertise of local artist Amanda Koss, is designed to be a transformative program to inspire Girl Scouts to reach their highest potential by recognizing and unlocking their inherent creative abilities! By connecting Girl Scouts with working artists, artisans, and innovative opportunities - the program fosters curiosity, self-expression, and personal growth. In a supportive and empowering environment, Girl Scouts will explore unconventional ways to impact their communities while discovering their own unique creative paths.
Created by artist and curator Amanda Koss, this program reflects her commitment to empowering youth, nurturing creativity, and providing access to the tools and opportunities needed to achieve their dreams.
Miniature Mosaics:
During this event, participants will create two coasters through the medium of mosaics with Artist Kelz. Girl Scouts will use a variety of glass, buttons, beads, small objects and grout to craft their two unique 4"x4" coasters. There will be an additional craft to fill in any extra time, because everyone works at a different pace and some may finish a little sooner than others. Kelz's art spans painting, drawing, carving prints, and other mixedmedium forms, with a focus on identity exploration, group connection, and liberation. Their creative process is informed by decades of work at the intersection of art, education, public health, and social work, allowing them to design transformative art experiences that foster healing, selfexpression, and empowerment
