Did you know that Michigan is home to 42 species of mussels, including some that are Federally endangered? Come cool off in the Belle River and help a mussel biologist ("Malacologist") conduct a survey as we learn all about these mysterious marvels!
Participants will learn how scientists survey for different mussel species, including the chance to get up close and personal in the river. Participants will also learn how they identify them, how these little animals help keep our rivers clean, and the importance of protecting mussels and their ecosystems, all while gaining field skills and having fun!

$0.00 per adult (Adults planning to be present during the program MUST register. Event space is limited.)
PLEASE note that this is NOT a drop-off event and proper Girl Scout to Adult safety ratios MUST be met in order to participate in the event.
