Girl Scouts, have you ever wondered how democracy works, or how powerful your voice is? On Saturday September 12, join Girl Scouts of Southeastern Michigan (GSSEM) and Michigan Women's Commission (MWC) to learn about democracy from inspiring women leaders!
All Girl Scouts will learn about Democracy! If you want to be a changemaker, it is important to start by understanding how the government works. You will learn the various ways you can be an active citizen, whether that is voting, volunteering, being on student council, or running for a government elected position. Girl Scouts will be hearing opening remarks from Monica Woodson, CEO of GSSEM, Cheryl Bergman, Executive Director of MWC and our keynote speaker a Representative Mai Xiong.
Girl Scouts will break into breakout rooms to dive deeper into the Government. Daises, Brownies, and Juniors will be attending the cookie election, to learn about voting and create a custom "I Voted" sticker. Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassadors will listen to dynamic panelist; Mayor Lori Stone, Carmella Rudd, Warren Consolidated School Board Member and Teacher/Behavior Specialist at Fitzgerald Public Schools , and Melody Magee, Warren City Council Vice President, Councilwoman and Chief Talent Officer of Career Focus Consulting Services, LLC.
All Girl Scouts will hear from Girl Scouts that attended The Girl Scouts Global Summit in the nation's Capital this summer.

$25 per Girl Scout
$30 per non-member and tag-alongs
$30 tag-a-long
$5 adult
Included in Girl Scout Registration Cost:
- 2 hours of programming
-All LEVELS earn and receive their Democracy For Badge

*PLEASE NOTE: This is not a drop-off event. Girls may come with their troop leader or guardian.
