GSSEM's In-Person Troop Meeting Updates

GSSEM recommends that troops continue to meet virtually.

A message to GSSEM troop volunteers,

Now that Governor Whitmer has signed an executive order permitting indoor gatherings of groups of 50 or less, some troops may want to resume in-person meetings.

To ensure the health and safety of our membership, it's Girl Scouts of Southeastern Michigan's (GSSEM) recommendation that troops continue to meet virtually. However, if troops choose to meet in person, GSSEM strongly encourages troops to adhere to safety and precautionary measures as outlined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, including frequent hand washing, limiting close contact, and wearing face coverings. Also, follow GSSEM's guidelines for resuming in-person troop activities, which includes guidance on transportation, meeting space, and day trips and activities.

Participation at in-person troop meetings is at your own risk. GSSEM suggests that troops use free group video chat and web conferencing resources like Zoom Meetings, Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, Free Conference Call, or any other group video/audio conferencing platform you prefer to use to hold your meetings during this time when social distancing is very necessary.

GSSEM offers a wide range of virtual badge and patch earning programs and camp and outdoor education programs, which girls can safely do at home. Also, please check out GSUSA's Girl Scouts at Home programming.

Please contact your Troop Support Specialist for additional guidance prior to resuming in-person troop meetings.

Yours in Girl Scouting,

Monica Woodson
