Global Action Days

Global Action Days

This year, Girl Scouts in Southeastern Michigan are working together and participating in programming that relates to global issues affecting women and girls. The new Global Action Days patch is designed to engage you and your troop in the Global Days of Action, along with millions of other Girl Scouts and girl advocates.

The Global Action Days patch is earned by celebrating three Global Action Days throughout the year listed in the official Girl Scout Global Action Days Toolkit and below. You must complete at least one activity for each day.

List of Global Action Days
  • International Women's Day: March 8
  • Global Youth Service Day: April 17 - April 19
  • Global Action Week for Education: April 20 - April 26
  • Girls in ICT Day: April 23
  • World Environment Day: June 5
  • International Day of the Girl: October 11
  • Global Poverty Day: October 17
  • 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence: November 25 - December 10
Global Action Days Patch

PLEASE NOTE: World Thinking Day is a Global Action Day, but because it has its own award, it cannot be used to earn the Global Action Days patch.

Our council has 275 Global Action Days patches and is happy to provide them to Troops on a first-come, first-served basis. Please note that unlike the Global Action and World Thinking Day awards, the Global Action Days patch is a participation patch and is worn on the back of the uniform.

Girls and Troops can receive their patches by submitting an online form that describes which three days they observed and a summary of what they learned from each day. They will then receive their patch in the mail.

The Global Action Days Toolkit includes separate and age-appropriate activities for Daisies/Brownies/Juniors and Cadettes/Seniors/Ambassadors for every Global Action Day. There is also a sensitive issues form in the toolkit, along with additional ideas on how to take action.
