Working with Girls

Whether you want to work directly with girls throughout the year or lend expertise for a specific short-term project or event, there is a place for you.

  • Episodic Volunteer - Join us for a one-time event and help supervise girls so we can provide safe programming. (Ever spent the night at the Mall with 500 of your closest girlfriends?)
  • Program Consultants – Offer to provide information to girls about a particular topic – on a troop-by-troop basis or by planning larger events. (Do you have a hobby or skill you would be willing to share with us?)
  • First-Aid Providers – Obtain First Aid and CPR training and attend trips and special events with girls as their “First Aider”.
  • Outdoor Program Facilitators – Do you like to camp? Take the GSSEM outdoor training course to learn about Girl Scout programming and safety, and travel with girls.
  • Leaders & Advisors – Take GSSEM training about the Girl Scout Program and meet with girls regularly. Leaders/Advisors working directly with troops/groups -help set the pace of meetings-we have troops meeting successfully once a week, biweekly, or monthly and for one hour, two hours, or other times in the afternoon or the evening, depending on their schedules. Currently, the Girl Scout Program is six grade-levels:
    Girl Scout Daisy Grades K - 1
    Girl Scout Brownie Grades 2 – 3
Girl Scout Junior Girl Grades 4 – 5
    Girl Scout Cadette Grades 6 – 8
    Girl Scout Senior Grades 9 – 10
    Girl Scout Ambassador Grades 11 – 12
  • Mentor - Girls need women as advocates to help them connect with the community and meet deadlines in order to complete the requirements for the GIrl Scout Silver Award or their Girl Scout Gold Award.
  • Fall Sale Managers – Coordinate the Fall Calendar and Nut sales, maintaining records, delivering product and motivating girls in a troop.
  • Cookie Sale Managers – Coordinate the Annual Girl Scout Cookie Sale program, including maintaining records, delivering product and motivating girls in a troop.
