Camp Moxie Day 1

In the morning groggy eyed campers headed to Handi Hall for breakfast, which would be followed by a warm welcome from Moxie’s partner CEO’s from Girl Scouts of Southeastern Michigan and the Women Officials Network.

The very first lecture of the program came from Dessa Cosma-King. As a handicapped individual, Dessa knew all about overcoming obstacles and persevering to pursue her passion of advocating social reform. This today includes her work of training potential leaders with the Center for Progressive Leadership. Her moving background and engaging personality encouraged girls to initiate the steps to discover their own passions.

Finding your passion: If only there was someone who would help people who are…
“people who are deaf and hard of hearing”
“in need of confidence building and raising awareness for sexism”
“applying for college”

The next step was to create a mind map that would link issues to possible solutions.
