FAQ

Q. What areas will be realigning in Southeastern Michigan?

View the map of our new Council.

Q. What will happen to my troop number?
A. Although troop numbers will change in order to avoid duplicates, these changes should not affect current troops. Troop numbers will be five digits, with a prefix for each current council at the beginning of each troop number: 1-Fair Winds 2- Huron Valley 3-Macomb 4-Metro Detroit 5-Waterways 6-Maumee Valley 7-New troop numbers For example: Current troop 1 in Fair Winds will become 10001, and current troop 6254 in Metro will become 46254.
Q. Why is GSUSA realigning nationally?
A. Realignment will strengthen the infrastructure and resources of the organization at all levels including fundraising, staff and volunteer support, public relations, and property management. Change has been in Girl Scouting from its very founding when Juliette Gordon Low changed the terminology from ?Girl Guide? to ?Girl Scout.? Girl Scouts pride themselves on their ability to change to meet the needs of girls.
Q. Will the way we identify ourselves as Girl Scouts Change?
A. No. The values of the Girl Scout Movement, as expressed in the Girl Scout Promise and Law, are still the base we will use to identify ourselves.
