Girl Scouts of Southeastern Michigan hosted the alumnae trip, "A Taste of Girl Scouting in Michigan." Thirty Girl Scouts and Girl Guides traveled from all over the U.S. and France to participate in the program. Highlights included the famous chicken dinner at Zender's in Frankenmuth, observing the Governor's GS Honor Guards' service to the State, and enjoying afternoon tea at the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island (the location of the movie Somewhere in Time).
While touring Dearborn--the home of the Ford Motor Companyttthe group spent time in a cross-cultural experience with leaders of GSSEM's Muslim Troop 48050. The day culminated with an authentic Ramadan Iftar dinner at the largest Mosque outside the Middle East.
The group spent the final day watching assembly of Ford's F-150 pick-up, viewing nostalgia at the Henry Ford Museum, and enjoyed a farewell banquet where happy memories were shared by all!
