Girl Scout Brownie

A Girl Scout Brownie (grades 2-3) discovers the world around her as she learns more about herself, her family and her friends. Girl Scout Brownies have a lot of fun together! They sing the Brownie Smile song, sleep in tents, go on hikes and tell stories around campfires under the stars. (Don't forget hot chocolate and s’mores!) They may visit museums or zoos, meet people who have interesting jobs or exchange SWAPS (Special Whatchamacallits Affectionately Pinned Somewhere) with new friends.

Brownies are fun-loving adventurers, stepping out of their family and school surroundings to learn more about themselves in relation to others. The name "Brownie" is used in Girl Guide and Girl Scout organzations worldwide, and the Brownie program is part of the fabric of growing up in the United States.

Girl Scout Brownies earn badges by exploring different activities from dancing and cooking to math and science.

Brownie Meetings

A typical Brownie meeting includes songs, crafts, games and exploration of new places and ideas. Brownie Journey programs encourage this exploration and help girls grow into leaders through the National Program Portfolio and Girl Scout Leadership Experience.

Brownies can earn badges which introduce them to activities and let them try something new.

  • Ideas to help girls tie their badges right into their Journeys.
  • Vintage illustrations and quotes from Girl Scout history to help girls feel connected to the proud traditions of the past.
  • An awards log showing girls every award and badge available at their level, as well as the entire badge program at every level, so girls can see how their skills will grow in Girl Scouting.

Journeys for Girl Scout Brownies

Brownie Quest

Brownie Quest

Along the Quest, Girl Scout Brownies will meet three new friends and a bright and shining elf—in a brand-new Brownie story meant to inspire their own Take Action Projects.

WOW! Wonders of Water

The Brownie friends and Brownie ELF enjoy some wonder-filled adventures as they invite the real-life Brownies to explore the Wonders of Water.

Along the way, Brownies experience what it is like to live in places where there is not enough water. They come to understand why the right to clean water is so important to everyone on Earth.

A World of Girls

A World of Girls

Stories are all around us – in movies, in books, in television shows, advertisements, on the news and even on cereal boxes. Stories inspire. Stories motivate. Stories spark imagination and help girls learn about themselves and the world.

A World of Girls helps engage Brownies in this wider world or stories in a way that gets them looking for clues to help make the world a better place.
