Below is a list of our most Frequently Asked Questions.
What does the registration fee cover?
We provide 24-hour camper supervision, at least nine hours of programmed activities, supplies and equipment for activities. One staff works with six to eight girls, depending on age.
What if we can’t afford the fee?
Financial assistance is available.
Who can attend Girl Scout camp?
Girls in grades K-12 can attend camp. Girls who are not current Girl Scout members still can participate in any of the camps. They pay an additional $12 to become a member of Girl Scouts of the USA.
What if my camper has special needs?
It is our goal for all girls to enjoy the outdoor experiences and friendships of Girl Scout camp. We ask parents/guardians to inform us at registration time of special needs so we can ensure staffing & accommodations.
Does my camper need a physical?
Following the Girl Scout ‘Safety-Wise’ standards and the American Camping Association Guidelines, every girl must have a physical examination given by a licensed physician, nurse practitioner, physician’s assistant or RN within 24 months prior to camp attendance. A health history form will be included in the camp confirmation packet and must be completed by a parent or guardian.
What if she needs medical attention?
In Girl Scouting, safety is always first, especially at camp. Camp staff is certified in a minimum of first aid and CPR. A Health Supervisor is on-site at each camp and oversees the routine health care and administration of medications for all campers and staff. A doctor is on-call if illness or injury requires additional medical attention. Parents would be notified in the event of an emergency.
What safety standards are followed?
Our camps are required to meet established standards for health and safety, site, program and personnel, which are set by state and local governments and Girl Scouts of the U.S.A. Each camp is also accredited by the American Camp Association (ACA).
Camp staff works closely with local law enforcement agencies, fire departments, and the US Forest Service to assure camper safety. Weather alerts are monitored.
Can my camper register with a buddy?
Absolutely! Make sure both girls list each other on registration forms and sign up for the same session. Sessions fill on a first come first served basis.
What if my camper has dietary restrictions?
The kitchen staff will gladly provide special diets necessary because of health problems or religious requirements. Please indicate this on your health examination cards. If your daughter has a highly restricted diet please provide a list of “ok” foods.
Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place. Girl Scout Camp is a great place for a girl to unlock her potential with the support and guidance of our caring staff. Your daughter will grow by leading her peers, voicing her opinion, and learning to make good choices. Age-appropriate activities allow campers to discover their strengths and ideals; connect with other girls and caring adults; and take action by doing their part for a common good. The girl-led, cooperative experiences of Girl Scout Camp create the perfect setting for developing leaders.
Can I visit the resident camps?
Each camp will host an open house. Families are welcome to see the camp and meet the staff members. Check back as we get closer to summer for additional information on open house dates and times.
How can I contact my daughter during camp?
In your camp confirmation packet you will receive the mailing address and information needed to contact your daughter during her stay at camp. We encourage you to write your daughter during camp, but remember it is often necessary to post mark mail prior to your daughters' departure to ensure she receives it in a timely manner.
Where can I find the camp address and directions?
In order to ensure safety for all campers and staff, this information is only provided in the confirmation packet that is mailed to confirmed camper registrations. If you have not received a confirmation packet or need a new one, please contact the council office.
