GS Volunteer Opportunities

Do you have some time to share your skills with GSSEM?  Please check out these opportunities!

Do you have Data Entry skills? Do you want an addition to your resume and have a little time to spare? You can help GSSEM Council update our database! Adult volunteers are needed to data enter our 2010 membership registration. Daytime hours are flexible. Please contact Darlene Johannisson, djohannisson@gssem.org if you are interested.

Filing/Administrative Assistance: Do you know your alphabet really well? Do you like to file and organize paperwork?   Of course, every Service Center has paperwork and could use some assistance. If this is a skill you would not mind sharing with GSSEM, please contact Linda Morrell at lmorrell@gssem.org.
Volunteer Resources Committee needs adults who would be willing to inventory the entire “loan closet” items at all service centers; make decisions about what can be retired and what could still be of value to current volunteers working with girls. The second task of the committee would be to develop the complete list of items available, and processes for adults to borrow the items. If you are interested in serving in this capacity, please contact Linda Morrell at lmorrell@gssem.org.

The Oakland Mall Mania Committee is looking for a few dedicated volunteers! Do you have great ideas to share and like to plan events? We have a lot of ideas, too, but we need your help to execute them so the girls can have a great time! Contact Caroline Feathers, 313-870-2511, cfeathers@gssem.org to confirm your attendance or for more information.

Are you interested in becoming a Council Facilitator? Check out the Facilitator Application and the Position Description Council Facilitator.  If you prefer to engage adults in meaningful dialogue, show people how to do things, and want to serve GS in a new way, this might be of interest to you.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR EVALUATION PILOT PROGRAM
GSSEM has been selected as a pilot council to work with GSUSA and the Girl Scout Research Institute, to develop evaluation tools to collect data on the GSLE materials, as well as the Journey Series. Since the beginning of the partnership, input has been given by pilot council staff members, outside consultants and the GSUSA Girl Research Institute. We are now in the third phase of the program implementation study, which includes our “Adult In-depth Data Collection Plan”. This phase includes looking at the most effective avenues to:
·         Provide feedback on the best way to capture program implementation data through adult and girl surveys.
·         Provide feedback regarding the implementation survey questions.
·         Examine how the leadership experience is being implemented across all Girl Scout levels.
If you are interested in surveys and evaluation, and willing to serve GSSEM and GSUSA via email for a pilot evaluation project, and have high-speed internet availability, we need you! Please complete the information on the survey beginning Monday February 1 at http://www.gssem.org/Volunteer_surveys  so we can reach out to you.  For more information, contact Tiffiny Drain tdrain@gssem.org.

 ADVOCACY FOR GIRLS

GSSEM is looking for volunteers to become a voice for girls, making a difference in our community and across the nation. Together, we can educate policymakers and community leaders on issues that directly affect girls and the Girl Scouts. By being an advocate, you will have an impact on girl policy issues moving through Congress and the state legislatures. If you're interested in working on GSSEM advocacy efforts, please contact jbowman@gssem.org.  For more information on GSUSA and advocacy, please visit: http://www.girlscouts4girls.org/
