GSSEM is sad to hear about the passing of Juliette Gordon Low's niece, Margaret Gordon "Peggy" Seiler. Below is a statement from GSUSA National CEO, Anna Maria Chávez.

I am writing with sad news. Yesterday, I learned of the passing of Margaret Gordon "Peggy" Seiler, the niece of our founder, Juliette Gordon Low, who died on Saturday morning, July 7th, at her home in Virginia. She was 90 years old.

​We are excited to partner with the Ford Motor Company Fund as one of eight program and resource collaborators in the new Ford Resource and Engagement Center. The center, located in southwest Detroit at Mexica​ntown Mercado, will provide an array of programs and services ranging from job training and language classes to dance lessons and a Gleaners food bank hub.

Congratulations to the newest recipients of the coveted Girl Scout Gold Award. On Sunday, May 5, 2013, nine Girl Scouts from the Girl Scouts of Southeastern Michigan council joined the ranks of many honored young women by receiving their awards during an elegant luncheon at the San Marino Club in Troy, MI.

Local entrepreneur to speak at Camp Moxie

We are excited to welcome Veronika Scott to this year's line-up of presenters at Camp Moxie. Featured as one of Crain Magazine's "Twenty in their 20's",  Veronika started the Detroit Empowerment Plan, a small non profit which hires women out of shelters to make coats. What's more unique? Veronika's coat doubles as as a sleeping bag for the homeless.
